If there is one thing that can always draw me in, it’s the concept of superheroes fighting supervillains. Justice fighting crime. Awesome powers, big battles, and high stakes. I am a simple reader. I don’t need too much to be entertained for an afternoon. With tastes like these, a discerning book dragon might think that Renegades by Marissa Meyer, author of The Lunar Chronicles would be right up my alley, and that dragon would be right. There’s a lot to love about this book, from the awesome abilities, to the interesting world, and the complexity of the fight between heroes and villains. There’s no two dimensional struggle between ‘good’ and ‘evil’ here
Today, my face is back in front of the camera as I review Renegades, (after taking over a year to get around to reading it. I’m slow, I know.) I hope you’ll join me as I discuss what I loved about the book, what I maybe didn’t love quite as much, and whether or not this book can match up to just how good The Lunar Chronicles were. It’s a tough thing to follow up such a successful book series, but with a couple of books between them, and a bit more space and time, maybe Renegades can finally step out from the shadows and be loved as an interesting and different series from an excellent author.
I hope you enjoyed this little review from me. Let me know if you’d like to continue seeing these videos every Friday. And if you’re interested in more of my thoughts on the books I’m reading, you should follow me on Goodreads, because I review every single book I’m reading this year, and not every review is going to make it into a video.
But now I’d love to hear from you! Have you read Renegades yet? if you have, what did you think? Did you like it? What was the best thing this book in your opinion? And if you haven’t read it yet, have you read any of Marissa Meyer’s other books? Are you interested in picking up a copy of Renegades and reading it for yourself?
