The 6 Best Reasons For Buying A Book

September 21, 2020

You’re heading to the bookstore, and there is an excellent chance that you might find a book there that you’re going to be tempted to buy. But you’re a responsible bookwork. You’re not going to go around buying any old book for no good reason at all. It’s a serious responsibility, decide what should be the next addition to your shelves. What you really need is a game plan. Some way of knowing whether your reason for wanting that book is strong enough to warrant you spending some of your hard earned money on it. Fear not, because today I have a list of the six best reasons for buying a book to guide you through all your book buying needs. Let’s get started.

You’ve Read Books By This Author Before

If you’ve read books by this particular author before, you know whether you like the writing style, and whether it’s likely to be a book that you’ll enjoy. It’s always worth adding another book to your collection if you already have several by this writer. After all, if you’re sure that this is a book that you’re going to like, by an author you trust, then you can be very confident that this is going to be a good investment of not only your money, but your time in reading. You should buy this book.

Someone Personally Recommended It To You

You might never have read a book by this author before, but one of your friends told you that you absolutely have to read this particular book. Personal recommendations are the absolute best. Firstly, you get to find out about amazing books that you might never have tried otherwise. You get the assurance that someone you trust believes that this book is good. And it also means that someone thought about you and your reading tastes enough that they thought to recommend this particular book to you personally. Buy that book.

You’ve Heard Good Things About The Book

If the general buzz around a book, is very positive, especially if it’s a big release, then that’s always a great reason to pick it up. Or if it’s a bit controversial and you want to see what everyone’s arguing about. Or people hate it and you want to know why it’s so terrible. Buying a book so that you can be part of the conversation surrounding it is a great reason, especially as it helps you be a bigger part of the reading community. Or you can just take popular opinion and let it guide you towards an interesting new book. Make use of popular opinion and buy yourself a new book.

The Premise Is Intriguing

This book isn’t one you’re heard of, and you’ve never read anything by this particular author before, but there it is, sitting on that shelf looking all inviting. And that back cover blurb does sound rather amazing. There’s no better way to discover a new favourite book, series, or author than by choosing a random book based on the back cover blurb. That’s what they’re there for after all. Go for it. Buy yourself that book.

The Cover Is Pretty

Look, some books have the most gorgeous covers, so pretty that they’re basically art pieces in their own right. You are perfectly justified in buying a book just because it has an absolutely stunning cover. Just think of how nice it’s going to look when you put it on the shelf along with all the other amazing books in your collection. Sure, you know nothing about the book, and it might not even be in a genre that you generally read. If it has a pretty cover, that’s good enough. You need to buy that book, pronto.

You Just Want A New Book

Ok, so the only reason you actually picked this book up is because you really just want to buy a book. You’re in a book buying mood, and you’re going to come away with a new book clutched in your hot little hands, no matter what. That’s a perfectly legitimate reason for buying a new book. Go ahead. Treat yourself. You can never have too many books. Buy yourself a brand new book. It’s the responsible thing to do.

That’s my quick guide to the six best reasons to buy yourself a brand new book. Hopefully this helps you out the next time you want to go out and buy a book. Before you go though, may I recommend to you a great book that’s coming out in just over a week? My new YA sci-fi novel Frost Hands is releasing on September 30th.
